29er wheel size

Big wheels roll better. 29 inches with about eight percent less energy consumption than the 26-inch version. The 29 “bike takes longer to get going but rolls easier and faster over stones and roots, which has an additional advantage - more comfort.

EPS (EXPANDED POLYSTYRIOL)

Balloons are usually used in the manufacture of a carbon frame. However, this technique creates wrinkles inside the frame or the surface is uneven. Expanded polystyrene (EPS), on the other hand, expands when it is hot and presses against the carbon from the inside. The result is a lighter, stiffer, and more uniform frame.

Thru Axle thru-axle

A thru-axle is similar to a long screw bolt that has a short thread on one end and a screw head or quick release lever on the other end. Instead of the thread, locking systems are also used, which only require a quarter turn for fixation.

In the frame and fork of the bike, instead of the conventional dropouts, there is, on the one hand, a hole for inserting the axle and, on the other hand, an embedded threaded nut into which the thru-axle is screwed.

"Trough Axle" have the advantage that they have a larger diameter than conventional 9 mm axles and are therefore much more rigid.

BOOST standard

The BOOST standard offers all screwdrivers new design freedom but only applies to the 29er and 650B Plus wheels. The width of the rear wheel hub increases from 142 to 148 mm. The front hub has increased from 100 to 110mm. Therefore, in addition to the usual 29 '' wheels, 27.5 rear wheels with plus tires can also be fitted to frames with the BOOST standard. The crank also moves 3mm outwards, which provides additional stability in the area of the bottom bracket and the longer chain length generally provides more space. This additional space, in the otherwise constantly cramped bottom bracket area, can be used to increase the tire clearance or to create a stiffer rear triangle by using larger bearings.

  • Wider rear and front hub.

  • Stiffer wheels and more space in the bottom bracket area.

  • Greater tire clearance for plus bikes.
